Pat Mesiti – Soaring Higher Pat Mesiti International Motivational Speaker gives you principles to soar higher!
Everyone ends up somewhere in life. You could end up somewhere on purpose You and I should never live life in a hit-and-miss fashion. All of us should have a vision for life. If you don't, somebody else will. Vision is a powerful thing. Forrest Gump asked his mother, ‘What's my destiny, Momma?’ It was a question about vision, about what the future holds. Without vision you will come to the end of your life and wonder about the things you could have done and should have done. Vision gives significance to mundane details. It is the difference between filling bags of dirt and piling them up in a wall to save a town against flooding. Filling bags is not glamorous, but saving a city from flood is worthwhile. You see, vision involves emotion. There is no such thing as emotionless vision. Even the most lifeless routine can feel good when attached to a vision. The clearer the vision, the stronger the emotion. Vision sets direction. People without a clear vision are easily distracted; they drift from one activity to another, one relationship to another. Instead, set your course, set your direction and pursue your vision. Vision begins with a concern. When we have a vision we are consumed by what is and what could be. Perhaps your vision is to build a better financial base for your family, to feed the poor, to free a people from a tyrannical regime. All vision begins with a concern and that means all of us are candidates for vision. Not all vision requires immediate action. Many people get a vision for something and think they automatically qualify to begin to fulfil it. We have to grow to fulfil our vision. For example, a little girl might have a dream of being a bride, and she will run into her mother's cupboard, take the wedding dress out, and put it on. For her, the vision is wonderful and clear: she will one day be a bride. But right now the dress doesn't fit. Like the little girl, we have to grow until we fit the vision and the vision fits us. Unfortunately, time has proven that people who win the lotto or who inherit vast sums of money soon lose it. Why? For them, success came too quickly and easily. They didn't grow over time to earn their wealth. It came to them easily and suddenly, and that's a recipe for disaster. We've got to learn to grow to fit the vision of our lives. Vision carries with it a moral element and a conviction that says something can be done and something should be done. It catapults you out of passive concern to urgency and action. Challenge Our hearts must be moved with concern before we will ever begin to implement our vision. So let me ask you: What concerns you? What moves you? What breaks your heart? What makes you angry? What makes you want to rise above and stand tall? My friend, answer these questions and you will find the cause that best suits you. Then build a vision around that cause. Because all vision requires someone to champion the cause. What is the cause that you can champion? What causes you to want to make a difference?
